How do you take care of a Coffea Arabica plant?

The best location

The coffee plant needs about 5 hours of sunlight per day. A location with indirect sunlight is then sufficient, although in some places the plant can easily stand directly in front of the window. If you have a window facing east, south or west, you can enjoy the Coffea Arabica on the windowsill. With a window facing south, it is important to create more distance from the window. When the Coffea Arabica is in a warm location, it is best to spray the plant regularly with a plant sprayer.

Watering the Coffea Arabica

The Coffea Arabica likes a slightly moist soil all the time. These preferences can be met by watering the plant once a week. The plant consumes quite a bit of water, so keep a close eye on the soil. Make sure you don’t give too much water. Is the soil dry again after two days? Then you can really give a little more water. But is the soil still dry after one week? Then you can certainly give less water. Otherwise, root rot may even occur. A slightly moist soil is sufficient.

Plant nutrition

From spring onwards, it is wise to administer extra plant nutrition once every two weeks. Under no circumstances give more than indicated on the packaging. No special plant food is required for the Coffea Arabica. Universal plant nutrition is sufficient. It is important to stop feeding the plants as soon as the end of summer is in sight.

Repotting

Immediately after purchase, the best time to repot the Coffea Arabica plant is. After this it is wise to repot the plant every 1 to 2 years. This is mainly due to how fast the plant grows. As soon as you start repotting, a flowerpot that is 20% larger than its previous one is essential. Just like fresh potting soil, by the way. In addition, we recommend placing hydro grains at the bottom of the flowerpot.

Air purifying function

Despite its size, the Coffea Arabica is certainly air-purifying. Although of course the plant cannot compete with a large air-purifying Banana plant. Well, you’ve got to start somewhere!

Is the Coffea Arabica poisonous?

The Cofffea Arabica is non-toxic by itself. Although the plant’s berries can cause nausea. Not very suitable for pets or children. As soon as the plant has been eaten, it is best to contact a doctor. Keep a close eye on symptoms and strange behavior.
