Small living happiness: little plants

JUST A FEW HANDY TIPS

Which plants are suitable for a small space?

With the current housing and rents, it can only be that you live in a broom closet of 6 square meters.

Despite the small space, the use of houseplants can work spatially. But how do you do that? Which plants do you use, and which plants do not?

Some favorite small plants

  • Kalanchoe
  • Echeveria
  • Muehlenbeckia
  • Pea plant
  • Sedum Makinoi

Filling small spaces with plants in 4 steps

Step 1: cuttings or mini plants

Go for cuttings! No exuberant Musa or Dracaena, but take it smaller. How about mini cacti in a hanging flowerpot? Or create your own mini urban jungle by putting different kinds of small plants or even cuttings together. Great for on the windowsill or a dresser!

Step 2: hanging and climbing plants

Although you don’t see it very often, it can certainly be done. Choose a Klimop in your room. By working with tall plants hanging down you make the room look bigger. You can also choose plants in hanging flower pots or on a plant stand. By playing with height, your house looks more spacious.

Step 3: an ecosystem

If you have chosen for small plants you can also turn them into a big eye-catcher. Create your own ecosystem!

Place small ferns and other tropical plants in a large glass vase. Add a few hydro grains, some fresh charcoal and earth and your ecosystem is finished.

Not only fun to look at but also handy. You don’t have to worry about it!

Step 4: ask for tips

Don’t be afraid to make a room look even smaller. Try it out and work in height. Do you live small and have you created your own mini Urban Jungle? Send us your tips or show us a picture of your little palace.
